ABOUT

Welcome to the jungle, this is AMOZONAS

We are a local and diverse grassroot initiative for wild animal rescue and rainforest conservation in the Amazon of Perú.

As a team made of villagers, immigrants like me (Danny) and indigenous people to the land, we

  • reforest,
  • protect and study the jungle,
  • we rescue, care for, rewild and educate about the animals,
  • we create workshops and help in various socioeconomic topics of the jungle valley,
  • we receive visitors and create safe jungle tour and volonteering spaces for people all around the world.

I INVITE YOU

to navigate through this websites menu and learn more about our work, how to help or even VISIT or volunteer for AMOZONAS

ABOUT DANIEL LEONARDO & the team

Hello dear lover of nature, I am Danny, born and raised in Berlin - I live and work here in Perú since 2014 and I built strong connections to my new hometowns local community.

After travelling some parts of the world by bike, I deeply fell in love with the amazon rainforest and I decided to stay to help protect this fragile and magnificent highest biodiversity of the world.

Me and back then two more founders sold everything we ever owned and bought our first plot of endangered rainforest.

Since then I keep this place safe from deforestation and polution and created AMOZONAS for fellow conservationists of the jungle.

ABOUT THE INNITIATIVE

AMOZONAS is my private project for local friends, indigenous to the land and from all over Perú in our beloved jungle town to help climate, wildlife and humans.

We work to find more sustainable, futureproof and locally accepted (and therefore more effective) ways to conserve the rainforest.

THE PROBLEM

Big NGO's often use keep the people around them out of the ecuation too much, which endangers the organisations effort to conserve, because they are not accepted, hated or sabotaged by the people who want the land for agriculture, mining or even cocain labs. It's understandable that everyone just wants to make it in this world, but of course, let's find kinder ways together.

OUR SOLUTION

Instead of trying to fight deforestation and pollution alone with each of our small conservation projects that I saw blooming here, I started to connect our efforts of everyone and also invite YOU to help.

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS

We invite people from all over the world to

  • get to learn about the reality of our life and work
  • visit the MANY conservation programs as one program
  • help with the work as volunteers
  • visit the FARMERS to live the example that ecological farming is globally approved of, that they are valued, yet asked to and supported to transition from big scale heavily chemically agriculture to sustainable farming and ecological solutions, alternative crops, invited to participate in eco tourism and many more future proof programs.

Amozonas visitors and volonteer payments are distributed to:

  • The animal sanctuary
  • purchase of endangered land
  • to the local hostals and restaurants instead of foreighner lodge owned food
  • most importantly to all AGRICULTURERS who receive the tour groups and teach about the reality of this place and provide the memorable experiences for our guests
  • to the indigenous community
  • to the valleys health care and educational facilities
  • Amozonas' participant partners like botanical gardens, biological research station and many more

This ensures that the people actually living here support the cause of the local conservationists , benifit from worldwide perspectives as well as teach their own wisdom to the people visiting AND they colab by sharing our efforts for ecological farming/ more biodiverse garden-farm styles for a a healthier nature and humans in the long run.

Bigger donations or colaboration support often times goes fully into land purchase for liberating the reacue animals and paperwork.
